Founded in 1987, Merit Medical Systems, Inc. is a worldwide company engaged in the development, manufacture and distribution of proprietary disposable medical devices used in interventional and diagnostic procedures, particularly in cardiology, radiology and endoscopy. Its primary products consist of inflation devices used in angioplasty and stent placement; diagnostic and therapeutic catheters used for various procedures in cardiology and radiology; diagnostic and hydrophilic products used to manage and monitor the administration of contrast media and other fluid solutions; thrombolytic catheters and fluid dispensing systems; and embolotherapeutic products for the treatment of uterine fibroids, hypervascularized tumors, and arteriovenous malformations.
Headquartered in South Jordan, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City, Merit employs approximately 2,300 people worldwide. Merit serves client hospitals with a domestic and international sales force totaling approximately 130 individuals as well as select distributors. These highly trained individuals and organizations market Merit's products both domestically and internationally by calling directly on physicians and clinicians who use the products in hospitals and clinics worldwide.
Merit has expanded from a small manufacturing facility in Salt Lake City to five separate facilities in the metropolitan area. The Company has a manufacturing facility in Galway, Ireland, enabling Merit to provide direct distribution to European accounts. Merit also has a catheter manufacturing facility located in Angleton, Texas; a procedure tray and pack manufacturing facility in Richmond, Virginia; European headquarters in Maastricht, The Netherlands; manufacturing facilities in Venlo, The Netherlands and near Paris, France; and offices in Rockland, Massachusetts, Copenhagen, Denmark, and Beijing.
